Kelly Ripa is 47 and works hard for her body – whether or not the internet trolls think she should hide at her age.
The Live with Kelly & Ryan host, who had been criticized on Instagram for donning a gold bikini on a beach getaway, follows a strict dieting and exercise regimen in which to stay tip-top shape, as her husband Mark Consuelos pointed out.
“She works difficult in her own professional life and her commitment to exercise, healthy diet is admirable and the benefits show. Yes she’s wearing a bikini at 47 and can without doubt wear one for many years to come,” he wrote in a reply to Ripa’s critics.
So exactly how is Ripa always “killing it,” as Consuelos said? She first begins with an high-alkaline diet, which concentrates on vegetables like beets, broccoli, cucumber, kale, kiwi, bell pepper and much more, while avoiding acidic foods like yogurt, fish and sugar.
“It is different my entire life, it’s changed the whole way I believe about food,” Ripa said on her behalf show in 2015.
The mom of three discovered the diet, which begins with a seven-day cleanse, from celebrity nutritionist Dr. Daryl Gioffre.
“It’s a really manageable cleanse. It’s very manageable,” Ripa said. “You’re not hungry. It isn’t like – people go, ‘What are you currently eating? You’re just drinking, you know, an environmentally friendly juice a day?’ No, it isn’t like this. You consume. I personally eat much more about this cleanse than I actually do within my actual life, but it’s what you eat and how you consume it.”

She has since determined methods to make the alkaline diet work for her lifetime, with some small adjustments.
“I prefer to drink coffee. I occasionally will have fish. The alkaline weight loss program is primarily a vegan diet, however i like cream within my coffee. I like to possess a glass of vino. And so i don’t adhere to it strictly, however when I do a cleanse, it will be seven days, and then I go to my normal life. But my normal life, like I said, isn’t that different than the alkaline cleanse,” Ripa told PEOPLE in 2015.
The TV host is also extremely focused on her workouts, and loves AKT – Anna Kaiser Technique – and SoulCycle classes, along with running. She called her workout classes her form of “clubbing.”
“I love the dance class,” Ripa said of AKT. “Because I believe I’ve aged from going clubbing, really, that’s my nightclub. Everybody there’s my age, therefore it is just like a bunch of us old ladies working out.”
Ripa said her workouts are vital on her physical and mental health.
“There are lots of people who don’t have to work out, and I am so happy on their behalf, but I have to work out in my body type,” Ripa said. “It’s part of my routine. It’s a part of my ritual. It doesn’t simply make me look better, but it makes me emotionally feel better.”
